A delegation from the European Parliament recently toured the Dajabón border region to observe commercial dynamics, security measures, and migration controls between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The visit included inspections of the perimeter fence, the binational bridge connecting Dajabón to Juana Méndez, and the Border Market.

European Union Ambassador Raúl Fuentes Milani emphasized the importance of the commercial relationship and noted that the crisis in Haiti requires an international response, stating that the situation is not an exclusive problem for the Dominican Republic. The delegation highlighted that while solutions must be built within Haiti, the international community has a responsibility to assist in restoring institutional normality.

Separately, reports on the Dominican electrical sector indicate that 44.4% of electricity distribution circuits (classified as 'A') now receive 24-hour service, an increase compared to the previous year. However, over one-third of circuits (classified as 'D') receive less than 14 hours of service due to high losses and low collection rates. Additionally, EDENORTE reported a 60% advancement in a network modernization project in the Dajabón area, involving an investment of approximately RD$11 million to improve voltage stability and reduce service interruptions.
