European Parliament President Roberta Metsola honors Warsaw Uprising veterans

On the 82nd anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola posted a photograph with 94‑year‑old veteran Jan Anton Witkowski, describing him as a “European hero.” She said the courage of Witkowski and all participants built today’s Europe and underscored the need to defend freedom, democracy and peace.

Polish Institute of Memory President Karol Nawrocki laid flowers at the Wola massacre memorial, recalling the 1944 killings of over 50,000 Poles and urging the international community to hold the perpetrators accountable for war crimes.
