European Parliament to open new office in Ottawa

The European Parliament has announced the opening of a new representative office in Ottawa, Canada. This move aims to strengthen parliamentary and political ties between the European Union and Canada, facilitating transatlantic exchanges in areas such as security, trade, and Arctic cooperation. European Parliament President Roberta Metsola stated that the office reflects a shared commitment to a rules-based international order during uncertain times.

The decision precedes a visit by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, where he is scheduled to deliver a speech. The new office will be the tenth outside the EU and the third in North America, joining existing offices in Washington and New York.

In separate regional news, Romania is experiencing significant weather shifts. Following a period of warm temperatures, a polar air mass is expected to bring cooling, rain, and potential snow at high altitudes. Meteorologists have also issued warnings regarding fog and varying temperature ranges across the country through mid-September.
