European Public Prosecutor's Office signs judicial cooperation agreement with China

Laura Coduța Kövesi, Chief Prosecutor of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO), and Ying Yong, Supreme Procurator-General of China, have signed a judicial cooperation agreement. The partnership focuses on combating corruption, money laundering, and organized crime networks that impact the financial interests of the European Union.

A key objective of the agreement is to improve the identification and recovery of assets and funds obtained through illegal activities. The two institutions aim to enhance the efficiency of procedures used to detect and reclaim illicitly gained property.

The agreement is a practical mechanism for law enforcement cooperation rather than a political agreement or the creation of a new joint institution. The EPPO and the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China have also established a joint strategy for the 2026–2028 period to facilitate more efficient information exchange and cooperation in cross-border investigations.
