Night train travel grows in popularity across Europe

Travelers across Europe are increasingly rediscovering the benefits of night trains, which allow for connecting distant cities within a single journey. According to a study by the digital booking platform Omio, night train bookings are growing steadily at a rate of 8% annually. Specific services are seeing even higher growth, with NightJet bookings up by 15% and EuroNight trips increasing by 26%.

The most searched night train routes center around major hubs including Berlin, Amsterdam, Prague, Paris, and Sint-Gillis. Popular connections include Berlin to Prague, Amsterdam to Berlin, and Berlin to Paris.

Beyond the most popular routes, travelers are exploring unique pairings such as the Sofia-Istanbul Express, which connects Bulgaria and Turkey. This ten-hour journey offers sleeper compartments with prices starting at approximately €15 for a double berth and €35 for a single cabin, though tickets for this specific route often require traditional in-person purchases at stations in Sofia or Istanbul.
