Stadler to supply 13 new FLIRT Evo trains for TPF network

The Fribourg Public Transport (TPF) company has commissioned Stadler to deliver 13 new four-part FLIRT Evo trainsets to modernize its regional rail fleet. The project is valued at 117 million Swiss francs.

Scheduled to enter service starting in December 2028, the new trains will gradually replace the existing Domino fleet. Each 73.5-meter vehicle will feature 164 seats and a total capacity of 369 passengers. The trains are designed with accessibility in mind, including wide doors, step-free access, and barrier-free toilets. They are capable of reaching speeds up to 160 km/h.

TPF Director General Serge Collaud stated that the new rolling stock is intended to meet increasing passenger volumes. The procurement benefited from pricing and conditions previously negotiated by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) during a 2021 tender.
