European renewable energy projects expand with Swedish battery storage installation and city transport PPAs

Swedish renewable developer OX2 is constructing a 209 MWh battery energy storage system, rated at 50 MW, alongside its Fageråsen wind farm in the Malung‑Salen municipality. The project follows an investment of roughly SEK 3 billion announced in March and reflects OX2’s broader strategy of integrating storage to mitigate wind intermittency.

Across Europe, city authorities are increasingly using power purchase agreements (PPAs) to secure low‑cost, renewable electricity for public‑transport fleets. These PPAs aim to meet net‑zero climate targets, lower transport‑related emissions, and provide price stability for operators by sourcing power from wind and solar projects.
