European Restoration Day highlights heritage work in Brandenburg
On the occasion of European Restoration Day, historical sites in Brandenburg, Germany, provided insights into the specialized work of restorers. At Rheinsberg Palace, experts detailed the complex restoration of the Shell Hall, which dates back to 1769, and discussed the preservation of a rare Chinese wallpaper that had suffered damage from sunlight.
Other participating sites included the Brandenburg Cathedral and the Neuzelle Monastery, where focus was placed on the restoration of historical textiles and Baroque passion depictions. Organizers stated that the goal of the day is to promote knowledge of the profession and highlight the responsibility restorers hold in preserving the integrity and authenticity of societal material evidence for future generations, noting its importance for local tourism.
