European Rover Challenge held in Krakow
The European Rover Challenge (ERC) recently took place in Krakow, Poland, featuring international student teams competing with custom-built Mars rovers. The competition included 25 teams from 16 countries, including Poland, Italy, Japan, Germany, Turkey, and Switzerland.
Teams were evaluated across five categories: Navigation, Science, Maintenance, Probing, and Presentation. While rovers performed tasks on a simulated Martian surface, the event also hosted lectures and conferences regarding the development and commercialization of the space sector, the role of Krakow as a ‘Space City,’ and the application of artificial intelligence in the industry.
The event, held at the AGH University of Science and Technology, included participation from the Polish Space Agency and various scientific clubs. It aimed to foster interest in space exploration among the younger generation through public access and educational engagement.
