European Rowing Championships in Varese sees mixed results for Croatia and Serbia

The European Rowing Championships were held on Lake Varese in northern Italy. Croatia’s men’s crews were only partly satisfied. The Sinković brothers qualified for the A final after finishing third in their semifinal with a time of 6:09.08, while the Croatian four‑man crew topped their qualification group with 5:42.83 and placed second behind Germany in the A‑final. Two other Croatian crews failed to reach the medal race and will compete in the B final.

Serbia opened the regatta strongly. Both Serbian men’s double crews won their qualification groups – Martin Mačković and Nikolaj Pimenov posted 6:12.63, and the women's single, Jovana Arsić, recorded the fastest time of 7:21.95. Their victories secured direct entry to the semifinals, where they will face crews from Germany, Moldova, Spain, Croatia and neutral athletes. The championships feature 32 European nations, 424 athletes and 190 boats across 24 events.
