European schools adopt AI curricula as teachers endorse technology's role

France is preparing to introduce a dedicated artificial‑intelligence lesson for secondary students, with the Education Ministry planning one hour per week of AI instruction from the 2027 school year. The move follows a report by the French Council of AI and Digital Affairs and includes measures such as AI‑detection equipment for exams.

A separate multinational survey conducted by ed‑tech firm Novakid in March 2026 covered over 1,000 parents in Italy, Poland, Romania and Turkey and 130 teachers active in more than 50 countries. The study found that 94 % of teachers believe AI will not replace their role, while 65 % of parents think AI tools can speed up learning when used under teacher supervision. Respondents highlighted the importance of human interaction for language skills and expressed support for AI as a complementary aid rather than a substitute.

Both developments indicate growing policy backing for AI in classrooms across Europe and a broad teacher‑led consensus that the technology should augment, not supplant, traditional instruction.
