European Sleeper to launch Scandinavia night train in 2028

Railway operator European Sleeper and German company RDC have announced a strategic partnership to launch a new night train service connecting the Benelux region to Scandinavia in April 2028. The planned route will link Brussels and Amsterdam directly to Copenhagen and Malmö, with intermediate stops in cities such as Antwerp, Rotterdam, and The Hague.

According to preliminary plans, the trains are expected to depart around 19:00 and arrive at their destinations by 10:00 the following morning, potentially operating three times per week. The service aims to provide a sustainable alternative to flying, catering to the growing demand for 'coolcations' in Northern Europe.

Passengers will have various accommodation options, including standard seating, couchettes, and sleeper compartments. The companies are also considering deluxe options featuring double beds and private en-suite bathrooms. This expansion follows other network developments by European Sleeper, including a new Brussels-Milan service launching in September 2026 and a planned Brussels-Barcelona connection in 2028.
