European Sports Week promotes physical activity in Hungary and Romania

The European Sports Week, an initiative launched by the European Commission in 2015, is being promoted through various community programs in Bihar County, Romania, and across Hungary.

In Bihar County, including Oradea and Székelyhíd, activities are scheduled from September 23 to 30. Programs organized by the Bihar County Sports and Youth Directorate (DJST) and the ‘Cătunul Verde’ Association aim to encourage physical activity for all ages, including seniors and teenagers, through dance, yoga, and running competitions.

In Hungary, the National Association of Student, Collegiate and Leisure Sports (NDHSZ) is coordinating the 11th edition of the event from September 23 to 30. While the official week is concentrated in late September, community programs are available throughout the entire month. A ‘Movement Map’ has been developed to help citizens find over 500 different activities, ranging from Nordic walking and Tai Chi to senior tournaments and workplace yoga, to help individuals reach the goal of 150 minutes of weekly physical activity.
