European stocks rise as oil prices decline
European stock indices rose following a slight decline in crude oil prices, which helped stabilize energy costs and ease inflationary concerns. Brent crude fell by 1.09 percent to approximately $88.03 per barrel, while US WTI crude dropped 1.22 percent to $82.14.
Major indices showed mixed but generally positive movement: Germany’s DAX increased by 0.31 percent, France’s CAC 40 rose by 0.12 percent, and Milan’s FTSE MIB climbed 0.4 percent. Conversely, the UK’s FTSE 100 fell by 0.37 percent.
In corporate news, shares of the Danish shipping company Maersk surged by about 8 percent after the container transport giant exceeded profit expectations and raised its full-year guidance. Additionally, economic data from the United Kingdom indicated a 0.4 percent economic growth in the second quarter of 2026, with further strengthening noted in June.
