European students visit Gorj to explore local traditions
Students from nine European countries are visiting the Gorj County Center for the Conservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture to study the traditions, customs, and cultural heritage of the Gorj region. The visit is part of the ‘Flavour School – Agritourism, local traditions and impact in the communities’ program, organized under the European University Alliance ACE²-EU.
The five-day program, which began at the ‘Constantin Brâncuși’ University of Târgu Jiu, includes exploring local gastronomy, crafts, and rural community life in Oltenia. As part of the initiative, students will create short videos to share these cultural stories with a European audience.
Activities include visiting exhibitions such as ‘Brâncuși – The Way of Heroes’, marking 88 years since the inauguration of the sculptural ensemble in Târgu Jiu, and ‘Ethnographic Gorj’, which showcases early 20th-century village life. The visit will conclude with a screening of the documentary ‘Home at Brâncuși’.
