European travel trends highlight quiet islands and Sziget Festival upgrades

European travel destinations and the Sziget Festival are highlighting new developments for summer visitors. To avoid mass tourism, several quiet European islands are recommended, including the Cíes Islands in Spain, which are protected as a nature park with turquoise waters; Tabarca in Spain, a small island near Alicante with limited crowds; and Île Porquerolles in France, known for its relaxed atmosphere near Saint-Tropez.

Meanwhile, the Sziget Festival has introduced significant comfort and sustainability upgrades to combat heat and dust. Organizers have implemented nearly 9 hectares of ground cover to reduce dust and provided 2,500 square meters of air-conditioned indoor space. To manage high temperatures, the festival has expanded shaded areas to 14,000 square meters, added misting gates, and increased drinking water stations. Lead organizer Tamás Kádár noted that while the energy crisis has eased, the festival continues its sustainability and conservation efforts.
