European Union allocates 390 million euros for green projects
The European Union has allocated 390 million euros to 135 new projects focused on nature protection, climate action, the circular economy, and clean energy through the LIFE programme. This funding covers approximately two-thirds of the total project value, which amounts to 579 million euros, with the remainder provided by national, regional, and local authorities, as well as private entities. The initiative includes support for Montenegro, specifically through a sub-programme aimed at assisting local authorities in investing in sustainable and clean energy.
In a separate development regarding regional cooperation, 19 projects under the third call of the Interreg Danube Region Programme have been approved with a total value of 29.896 million euros. Montenegrin partners are involved in 13 of these projects, representing 14 different partners from Montenegro, with a total allocation of 1.187 million euros. Implementation for these projects is scheduled to begin on December 1, 2026, with a 28-month implementation period.
