European Union announces funding for cyber hubs and hybrid intelligence residencies
The European Commission has opened a call for proposals to fund the deployment of Cross-Border Cyber Hubs under the Digital Europe Programme. With a budget of €2,000,000, the initiative aims to establish high-level cybersecurity infrastructures capable of aggregating threat data across multiple Member States. These hubs will utilize advanced analysis, detection, and storage systems to share cyber threat intelligence (CTI) with competent authorities, CSIRT networks, and ISACs. The program may also include solutions for monitoring critical undersea infrastructure, such as communication cables, in synergy with the Copernicus space program.
Separately, the European Hybrid Intelligence Network (EHIN) has launched a call for artistic residencies to explore hybrid intelligence. Hosted by institutions including LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Spain, the program offers grants of up to €25,000. The residencies aim to investigate how non-human living systems—such as plants, fungi, microorganisms, and animals—process information and respond to their environments, moving beyond conventional human-centric computational models.
