European Union calls for protection of humanitarian workers

The European Union has issued a call to emphasize the importance of protecting humanitarian workers and respecting international law in observance of World Humanitarian Day.

In a joint statement, Kaja Kallas, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Hadja Lahbib, the Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness, and Crisis Management, highlighted the daily risks faced by aid workers. They noted that these individuals frequently jeopardize their safety to provide essential food, water, shelter, and medical care to those in need, often in regions that have been overlooked by the global community.
