European Union Entry/Exit System records 210 million entries

The European Union’s Entry/Exit System (EES) has recorded approximately 210 million entries by non-EU citizens, according to data presented by European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Bruner. The digital system, which became fully operational on April 10, 2026, replaces traditional passport stamping with digital tracking of entries, exits, and refusals for short-stay travelers.

During its implementation, approximately 70,000 individuals were denied entry due to issues with documentation or other reasons. Among those refused, roughly 2,000 people were identified as security risks, including individuals linked to terrorism, drug trafficking, and organized crime. The system is designed to provide authorities with precise data regarding who enters the Schengen Area, their entry timing, and their required departure dates.
