European Union seeks coordination for Ibar River Bridge opening

The European Union is calling for improved coordination and meaningful consultations between central institutions and local municipalities before the Ibar River Bridge in Mitrovica is opened to all traffic. While the bridge is currently accessible to pedestrians, EU spokesperson Anitta Hipper stated that conditions for full traffic access have not yet been met.

The EU maintains that the bridge must serve and connect all communities. Furthermore, the European Union emphasized that the Kosovo Police must guarantee the security and protection of all communities in accordance with democratic principles, human rights, and the rule of law to ensure all citizens feel safe.
