European University Cyprus develops synthetic children's voices
The European University Cyprus is participating in the VoiceKids project, an Erasmus+ funded initiative aimed at developing synthetic children's voices. The project focuses on creating open-source, artificial intelligence-based Text-to-Speech (TTS) technology that better reflects the age and identity of children.
This development is part of the International Month of Awareness for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). The technology is intended to provide children with new ways to express themselves and participate in school and daily life, offering alternative methods for accessing written content, learning, and communication through AAC systems.
