European users call for larger foldable phone screens for productivity

A survey of 4,006 smartphone users in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Spain, conducted in July 2026, shows that seven in ten Europeans want a thin phone that can unfold to a larger display for everyday work tasks. Eighty‑five percent of respondents said they start a task on their phone and pause it to finish later on a device with a bigger screen. Nearly one‑third (29%) cited the limited screen space as the main source of frustration, while 25% were annoyed by constant app or tab switching.

The most common activities affected were online shopping or product comparison (26%), reading or checking important documents (26%), and editing photos or videos (21%). The findings were released at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in London, where the company unveiled its next generation of foldable devices. Participants view larger foldable screens as a practical solution, highlighting benefits such as side‑by‑side information comparison (31%) and completing tasks without switching devices (30%).
