EuroVolley: Greece and Germany advance to knockout stages

The EuroVolley women's tournament continues with several teams securing spots in the round of 16.

The Greek national team has advanced to the knockout stages for the first time in seven years following a 3-1 victory over Austria. Despite losing the first set 20-25, Greece rallied to win the subsequent sets 25-18, 25-12, and 25-14. Martha Anthouli led the Greek offense with 20 points.

Germany has also secured a place in the round of 16 despite a 1-3 loss to tournament favorites Turkey in Istanbul. Germany managed to win the second set 27-25, but ultimately fell to the hosts. Lina Alsmeier was the top scorer for Germany with 18 points.

In contrast, the Austrian national team finished the group stage without a victory. Although they managed to secure their first point of the tournament by taking two sets in a 2-3 loss against Bulgaria, they ended Group B at the bottom of the standings.
