In Group A, hosted in Modena, Italy, the Slovakian national team faces a challenging tournament. After an opening loss to Slovenia (0-3), which included a highly competitive first set where Slovakia held four set points, the team is set to face the reigning world champions, Italy. The Slovakian squad, led by coach Michal Masný, features 11 debutants and competes in a group that also includes Sweden, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, and Greece.
