European Week of Sport initiatives launch in Croatia and Serbia

The European Week of Sport, an initiative by the European Commission to promote physical activity, is being observed across various regions, including Zadar, Croatia, and Novi Sad, Serbia.

In Zadar, activities are hosted at the ŠC Višnjik sports center through September 30. The program includes fitness sessions with Mario Mlinarić, initiatives to promote exercise in the workplace for local government and library employees, and Kids Athletics programs. The event also features presentations of sports schools to encourage youth participation.

In Serbia, the week is marked under the slogan #BeActive. Serbian Minister of Sport Zoran Gajić and Olympic Committee President Dejan Tomašević emphasized that the initiative aims to make physical activity a permanent habit by moving sports out of stadiums and into schools and local communities. The celebrations in Novi Sad, the designated European Capital of Sport for 2026, include sports challenges, urban events, cycling races, and educational panels scheduled primarily between September 23 and September 30.
