European wildlife parks report new animal births

Several European wildlife parks have reported recent animal births. At the Wildpark Alte Fasanerie in Germany, a female wisent calf named Farah was born to mother Farina on July 28. This marks the first female offspring in three years for the park. Additionally, the park is experiencing the autumn mating season for fallow deer and muntjac deer.

In Austria, the Zoo Schmiding announced the unexpected birth of a male lowland tapir named Yaku on October 15. The birth was unplanned due to a temporary interruption in hormonal reproductive control for the male, Poroto, caused by medication supply shortages. Despite being unplanned under the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP), zoo officials noted that both mother Lucy and the calf are doing well.
