Europe's ice and snow hotels offer unique winter stays

Europe features several specialized ice, snow, and igloo hotels that provide seasonal accommodations in frozen environments. These properties often utilize ice harvested from local rivers and lakes or fresh snow to maintain their structures.

Snowhotel 365, located in Bjørnevatn at the Snow Resort Kirkenes in northern Norway, features rooms hand-carved by international ice sculptors. While indoor temperatures remain around -4°C, guests are provided with thermal sleeping bags and access to heated lounges, saunas, and showers. The hotel operates year-round, using approximately 30 tonnes of ice and snow annually for renewal.

In Jukkasjärvi, Swedish Lapland, the ICEHOTEL is rebuilt every winter as the Torne River freezes. Artists and sculptors from around the world create unique art suites and temporary rooms that are available for five months starting in December. The ice rooms maintain a temperature of approximately -5°C, and guests are provided with reindeer hide blankets and sleeping bags.
