Romania's ENEVO Group signs 110 MW battery storage EPC contract
Enevo Group and Kraftfeld have signed an EPC contract to build a 110 MW / 220 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Drăgănești‑Olt, Romania, with construction slated for Q3 2026 and commercial operation expected in early 2027. Enevo’s VP of Renewables said, “Energy storage is an essential element for a resilient and decarbonised power system.”
ENGIE announced its first hybrid project in Romania, installing a 5 MW / 10 MWh battery within a 50 MW wind farm in Băleni, Galați County, to be commissioned by the end of 2026. The company stated, “It will be commissioned by the end of the year and will contribute to the more efficient integration of renewable energy into the grid.”
RPOWER BESS‑TWO, backed by €44 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, will develop a 127 MW / 254 MWh storage installation near Scornicești, Olt County, pending ANRE authorisation.
LONGi Solar Europe is supplying more than 1.1 million Hi‑Mo 9 PV modules for the 761 MW Ogrezeni hybrid solar‑plus‑storage project in Giurgiu County, which will also include over 1 GWh of battery capacity. LONGi President Leon Zhang called the alliance “a historic phase.”
Separately, SolarPower Europe reported that Europe’s total battery storage capacity passed 100 GWh in 2025, driven by 36 GWh of new utility‑scale installations – a 48 % annual increase. The report urges the EU to adopt a specific Battery Storage Action Plan to remove permitting and market barriers.
