Europe's Ultra‑Rich Grow by 20 Daily as Wealthy Relocate to New Hubs
The number of Europeans with net assets above €25.7 million grew by an average of 20 people per day between 2021 and 2026, adding 37 428 ultra‑rich individuals. Germany led the rise with 9 273 new ultra‑rich, roughly five per day, while the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland and Spain also saw notable increases.
A Henley & Partners report on wealth‑mobility showed that high‑net‑worth individuals are moving away from traditional destinations such as the United Kingdom, France and Germany. Cyprus topped the European mobility‑competitiveness index, followed by the Netherlands, Portugal and Italy. Switzerland, Greece and Italy were also highlighted as attractive for wealthy migrants seeking stability, favourable tax regimes and access to the EU market. Pressure to retain rich residents was noted in the United Kingdom, France and Germany, where requests for residency increased notably.
Both trends underline a growing concentration of wealth in Europe’s leading economies and a shifting pattern of where the continent’s richest choose to live and invest.
