Europlátano sets record banana export volumes in Switzerland

Europlátano has achieved a record volume of banana exports to the Swiss market, marking an increase of over 150% compared to 2025. This commercial expansion is part of a strategy to manage high supply levels within the domestic market and provide alternatives to the price pressures and tensions currently affecting the Peninsular Spanish market.

To support local producers, the group has guaranteed a minimum fixed return price of €0.80 per kilogram, aimed at protecting the liquidity and viability of banana cultivation in the Canary Islands. The company is also reinforcing its ‘Canary Gold’ brand, with six truckloads of bananas scheduled for delivery to Switzerland over the next three weeks.

The success of this operation is attributed to a predictive forecasting model using a digital field notebook. This system allows for the monitoring of flowering and fruit development months in advance, enabling the company to coordinate supply with high-demand international windows and minimize the need to discard fruit.
