Europol hosts Conference of European Police Chiefs
The Conference of European Police Chiefs was held at the Europol headquarters in The Hague to discuss international police cooperation. The meeting included heads of police from EU member states, representatives from third countries with strategic agreements, EU institutions, and the Secretary General of Interpol.
Discussions focused on the role of new technologies in criminal activities, specifically the use of artificial intelligence. Participants examined both the risks of illicit AI use and its potential benefits for law enforcement in crime prevention and combatting organized crime.
The Italian delegation, led by Chief of Police Vittorio Pisani, included representatives from the State Police, Carabinieri, and Guardia di Finanza. A key point of the Italian intervention was the necessity of accessing data held by electronic communications providers as an essential investigative tool, provided fundamental rights and guarantees are respected.
