Eurospin egg recall over salmonella risk in Italy

The Italian Ministry of Health issued an alert after detecting Salmonella enteritidis in a lot of fresh, free‑range eggs sold under the Delizie del Sole brand at Eurospin supermarkets. The affected cartons contain six eggs, lot number 1IT040VR006, with a best‑before date of 04/08/2026. The eggs are produced by Agricola TreValli Società Cooperativa (Gruppo Aia‑Veronesi) at its facility in Caselle di Sommacampagna, Verona province.

Consumers are advised not to eat the eggs and to return them to the point of sale for replacement. The same lot had previously been recalled for other private‑label brands (AIA on 27 July and Selex on 31 July). Salmonella is a common food‑borne bacterium that can cause gastro‑intestinal illness.

The recall applies nationwide across Eurospin stores in Italy, aiming to prevent any potential outbreaks.
