Eurospin expands Italian discount model across Europe
Eurospin, established in 1993, has grown into Italy’s largest discount group, operating over 1,300 points of sale across Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, and Malta. The company utilizes a business model centered on the concept of ‘Spesa Intelligente’ (Smart Shopping), which aims to balance product quality with consumer affordability.
A core component of the Eurospin strategy is the use of private labels rather than major industrial brands. This approach allows the group to focus investments on raw materials, production processes, and supplier selection. Key proprietary brands include Tre Mulini, Pascoli Italiani, Dolciando, Ondina, and Dexal.
Retail locations typically cover approximately 2,000 square meters and are designed for intuitive and rapid shopping experiences. The product assortment includes fresh, dried, and frozen foods, alongside specialized departments for produce, butchery, bakery, deli, and fish in many locations. The company also offers non-food promotional items such as household goods and small appliances.
