Eurostat report shows rise in European tourism participation

According to a recent Eurostat report, approximately 249 million Europeans aged 15 and older participated in tourism activities in 2024. This represents a 2.3% increase, or 5.7 million more tourists, compared to 2023. This group accounts for roughly 65% of the EU population aged 15 and older.

In terms of growth, Romania recorded the highest increase at 30.5%, followed by Sweden at 16.6% and Lithuania at 13.5%. Conversely, countries that saw lower tourism participation levels in 2024 compared to the previous year included Poland, Portugal, Italy, France, Denmark, and Bulgaria.
