Eurovision Song Contest to restructure governance for 2027
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is initiating a restructuring of the Eurovision Song Contest governance ahead of the 2027 edition. The current Reference Group, which serves as the primary governing body for participating members, is expected to be replaced by a new Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) Committee.
According to Eurovision Head of Communications Dave Goodman, the process for changing the contest's governance has officially begun. While full details of the new structure have not yet been formally released, the new ESC Committee is expected to report directly to the EBU Executive Board. This move follows years of discussions regarding the contest's neutrality, participation rules, voting procedures, and decision-making processes.
