Eurowings Flight Returns to Cologne After Cockpit Warning

On 25 July 2026 a Eurowings Airbus operating flight EW532 from Cologne/Bonn to Málaga experienced a cockpit warning related to the landing‑flap control system. The crew elected to turn the aircraft around, performing several loops over the Nörvenich area before heading back to Cologne. The plane landed safely with all 176 passengers and crew unharmed. After the unscheduled return, passengers were rebooked onto a replacement aircraft that later departed for Málaga, arriving with a delay. Eurowings said the aircraft was fully fueled and too heavy for an early landing, and emphasized that safety remained the top priority.

The incident caused only minor operational disruption and no injuries or safety concerns beyond the technical fault.
