Eurozone and EU report GDP growth in second quarter of 2026

Eurostat data indicates economic growth in the Eurozone and the European Union for the second quarter of 2026. The Eurozone economy grew by 0.4% compared to the previous quarter, while the EU's GDP increased by 0.5%. On an annual basis, the Eurozone saw a 1% increase in GDP, compared to 1.2% for the EU.

Employment in both the Eurozone and the EU rose by 0.1% during the second quarter. In the United States, GDP grew by 0.4% on a quarterly basis, following a 0.5% increase in the first quarter.

In Greece, the expected duration of working life is projected to reach 35.3 years in 2025, up from 32.1 years in 2014. While Greeks work more hours per week on average (39.6) than the EU average, their total duration in the labor market remains below the EU average of 37.5 years. The increase in labor market participation in Greece over the last decade has outpaced the EU average increase of 2.3 years.
