Eurozone inflation expectations rise amid ECB monetary policy shifts

Inflation expectations in the Eurozone rose in August, according to a monthly survey by the European Central Bank (ECB). The three-year inflation indicator, a key metric for monetary policy, increased to 2.9% from 2.7% in July. Consumer prices are expected to rise by 3% over the next year, up from 2.9% in July. This trend, coupled with inflation reaching 3.2% in August, suggests the ECB may need to implement further interest rate hikes.

In response to the shifting economic landscape and rising costs of money, banks have seen a surge in asset management activity following the August hiatus. Financial institutions are launching new products with durations ranging from 2 to 10 years, designed to offer higher potential returns than traditional term deposits while managing risk. These products aim to attract conservative investors seeking alternatives to standard banking products as bond yields rise due to tightening monetary policies.
