Eury Pérez finds success following performance turnaround

Miami Marlins pitcher Eury Pérez has experienced a significant performance turnaround following a difficult outing against Tampa Bay on May 17. Pérez noted that the frustration from that game served as a turning point, leading him to change his mental approach and emotional management during games.

To improve his performance, Pérez and his coaching staff incorporated the sinker into his repertoire. Since that May outing, Pérez has recorded a 2.04 ERA and a 2.51 FIP over his last 10 starts. This recent stretch includes a dominant performance against the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he pitched seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts and only three hits.

On the season, the 23-year-old holds a 3.39 ERA and a 3.68 FIP across 21 starts. Marlins manager Clayton McCullough credited Pérez’s improved success to a wider variety of pitches and better command of the strike zone.
