EV charging infrastructure expands with new rewards and hardware

New developments in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure have been announced in the United Kingdom and Malaysia.

In the UK, Source, backed by SSE and TotalEnergies, has launched a nationwide rewards programme for its ultra-rapid charging hubs. Drivers using the 10-bay facility at Gateway Retail Park in Lowestoft can earn points for every kWh charged. Two points are awarded per kWh, with a £5 voucher redeemable after approximately 15 sessions. Vouchers can be used at over 30 retailers, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Costa Coffee. New members can receive up to 2,000 points, valued at £10, on their initial charge via the PowerGoodies app.

In Malaysia, ChargEV has deployed a new 60kW DC charger at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara. Replacing two previous AC charge points in the B1 basement parking area, the standalone Autel DC unit features two CCS2 nozzles. The service is available via the ChargEV, JomCharge, and Gentari Go apps. As a launch promotion, a 20% discount is available using the code CRV26 until October 2026, reducing the cost to RM1.04 per kWh.
