EV charging networks expand with new high-power stations in US and Malaysia

EVgo and General Motors have launched a new flagship fast-charging station in metropolitan Detroit. Located at a Meijer store near GM’s Global Technical Center, the site features over 40 charging stalls, including a mix of CCS and NACS connectors. The station utilizes 350kW charging technology, which can potentially deliver a full charge in approximately 15 minutes. EVgo plans to expand its flagship network to several other U.S. states, including California, Florida, and Texas.

In Malaysia, JomCharge has introduced JomChargeX, a new brand for ultra-fast DC chargers with outputs exceeding 200 kW. The company aims to deploy chargers capable of up to 1,200 kW, which could theoretically charge a compatible 1,000-volt electric vehicle from 20% to 70% in five minutes. Current deployments include sites at the Sepang International Circuit and Xpark Sunway Serene, with further expansions planned for locations such as Ipoh, Penang, and Johor Bahru.
