EV Füssen and ESV Kaufbeuren prepare for high-security ice hockey derby

EV Füssen and ESV Kaufbeuren are set to face each other in an Oberliga ice hockey derby this Friday at the Arena am Kobelhang. This marks the first meeting between the two rivals in 17 years, sparking significant anticipation among fans.

Due to the historical intensity of the rivalry, authorities have implemented high-security measures comparable to major football matches. The police presence will be substantial, and the stadium parking lot will be closed to separate fan groups and ensure emergency access. Local residents near the stadium have also been advised to secure belongings.

While fan representatives acknowledge the long-standing rivalry and expect intense atmosphere on the stands, they expressed hope that any physical confrontations remain limited to the ice. The event is expected to draw approximately 3,500 spectators.
