EV manufacturers BYD and Mazda report delivery delays and upcoming launches for Australian market

BYD has postponed deliveries of its Shark 6 Performance electric SUV to Australia because a key under‑body battery‑protecting component is in short supply. The company told customers they can either take delivery of the vehicle without the part and have it fitted at the first service visit, or wait until the component becomes available, with many opting for immediate delivery.

Meanwhile, Mazda’s new right‑hand‑drive 6e electric sedan has begun shipping, with 500 units arriving at Thailand’s Laem Chabang port. The shipment marks the first public exposure of the model ahead of its launch in Thailand and Australia scheduled for July 2026, with further deliveries planned for other RHD markets such as the UK, Singapore and Hong Kong. The cars are built at the Changan‑Mazda plant in Nanjing, China, and feature a 78 kWh LFP battery offering up to 560 km of range.
