Eva Fresneda wins Spanish Junior Triathlon Championship in Mérida

The 2026 Spanish Triathlon Championship was held in Mérida, Extremadura, featuring approximately 800 athletes competing in the Sprint distance. The event concluded a series of national championships hosted in the region, following the Duathlon championships held in Cáceres earlier in the year.

Eva Fresneda of the Triatlón Albacete Res club secured the Spanish Junior Championship title with a finishing time of 1:03:48. Fresneda achieved this victory by breaking away during the running segment, maintaining her lead for the final two kilometers. This win follows her previous title as the Spanish Junior Duathlon Champion in Cáceres.

In the women's junior team category, the Triatlón Albacete Res team, consisting of Eva Fresneda, Cecilia Parada, and Helena Negro, earned third place. The team competition was led by CEA Bétera, followed by Triatló Ontinyent.
