Eva Pinkelnig returns to ski jumping training in Tschagguns
Austrian ski jumper Eva Pinkelnig has completed her first training jumps in Tschagguns, marking a significant step in her recovery. The 38-year-old athlete returned to the HS60 jump on Thursday, nearly one year after a severe injury sustained during the Summer Grand Prix in Predazzo, Italy, on September 18, 2025.
The injury, which included a torn cruciate ligament and meniscus damage to her left knee, had previously raised questions about her career longevity. Following months of rehabilitation and wind tunnel training, Pinkelnig successfully performed her first jumps without any negative reactions from her knee.
Thomas Diethart, the head coach of the Austrian women’s ski jumping team, noted that the session was a milestone and expressed optimism based on her physical response. Pinkelnig stated that while she felt a sense of respect and caution, her confidence returned with each jump. She emphasized the importance of a gradual, step-by-step progression and has not yet announced a timeline for her return to competition.
