Evan Gold hired as assistant general manager by New York Islanders

Evan Gold, 46, left the Boston Bruins organization on August 1 after serving as assistant general manager and director of legal affairs. The Bruins announced his departure on July 14, noting he would pursue other opportunities in the NHL. Two days later the New York Islanders confirmed Gold’s hiring as assistant general manager and as general manager of their AHL affiliate, the Hamilton Hammers. Islanders general manager Mathieu Darche said Gold “brings a rare combination of experience, intelligence, and results” and will oversee contract negotiations, roster strategy, scouting and salary‑cap management. Gold’s background includes legal and business roles with the Washington Capitals, a decade with the Bruins, and candidacy for several NHL general‑manager positions. The move is part of a broader front‑office reshuffle for the Bruins, which also saw the departure of assistant GM Jamie Langenbrunner earlier in the year.
