Evan Rachel Wood expresses disappointment over exclusion from Practical Magic 2
Evan Rachel Wood, who played Kylie Owens in the 1998 film Practical Magic, said she is “sad” to be left out of the upcoming sequel, Practical Magic 2. She explained that she offered to return for even a single scene, but the producers decided to recast her role with Joey King. Wood also noted that the sequel’s storyline, based on Alice Hoffman’s novel The Book of Magic, diverges from the source material and, in her view, would have allowed her character’s return.
Wood emphasized the strong bond she formed with the original cast as a child and lamented missing the chance to reunite with them as adults. She wishes the new cast, including Joey King and Maisie Williams (who replaces Alexandra Artrip as Antonia Owens), the best and hopes fans will enjoy the film, which is slated for a September 11 release.
