Evan reveals childhood battle with malignant lymphoma

K-pop soloist Evan, formerly known as Heeseung of the group ENHYPEN, has revealed that he battled malignant lymphoma during his childhood. In an interview with Weverse Magazine, the singer shared that he was diagnosed in the fourth grade after experiencing breathing difficulties while playing soccer.

Evan described the emotional difficulty of the period, noting that he witnessed friends in the hospital pass away while he fought to return home. He credited his mother’s constant care as a primary source of strength and noted that music, including playing the guitar at hospital talent shows, helped him cope with the illness.

Following his departure from ENHYPEN in March 2026 to pursue a solo career under BELIFT LAB, Evan is preparing to release his first self-produced mini-album, ‘Death of Me’, on September 7, 2026. The album is inspired by his personal experiences and his journey of self-evolution.
