Evan Stanley and Nick Simmons defend Stanley Simmons project name

Evan Stanley and Nick Simmons, the sons of KISS musicians Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, have addressed criticisms regarding the naming of their collaborative musical project, Stanley Simmons. In an interview with SoundExchange’s ‘Sound Advice’ series, the duo explained that the name was not intended as a marketing gimmick or a calculated attempt to capitalize on their fathers' fame.

Evan Stanley noted that the project formed organically and rapidly, with the pair writing their first song, ‘Temporary Love’, on February 3, 2024. They decided to use their surnames rather than creating an elaborate band name, citing musical precedents such as Crosby, Stills & Nash, Simon & Garfunkel, and Hall & Oates. Nick Simmons added that the intention was to present their music without unnecessary affectation or theatrics.
